There are lots of actors who have played strippers, but has the thought ever crossed your mind that some Hollywood female stars actually used to strip before their fame? Hollywood is a tough gig. Actors and musicians have to go through great lengths to make ends meet before they get their big break – if they get their big break. Even some of the most well-known celebrities had normal, soul-sucking minimum wage jobs like the rest of society at one point. However, there were some who couldn’t handle the comparatively small salary of blue-collar work, so they turned to stripping.

Amber Rose

It’s no secret that Amber Rose, Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend, used to strip. Rose, a model who regularly slams gendered double standards, found it totally empowering. The model turned social media star used to go by the name Paris when she was stripping and deeply misses that part of her life.

In an interview with Loveline, she said, “[It was] the best fcking time of my life. Miss the pole. Got a pole in my fcking house. Getting drunk before you go out there – it was a whole moment.”

Cardi B

Cardi B started stripping as a young adult and did it for three and a half years. During an interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in April 2018, she explained that the job helped to pay her bills, afford an apartment, and invest in her goal of becoming an artist.

She also said that by the time she was 20 years old, she had accumulated approximately $20,000 from her work.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Cardi B said that she continues to be vocal about stripping because she feels as though people who work in that industry aren’t respected.

Lady Gaga

“I made more money stripping than waitressing,” she explained during an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. “I didn’t show too much — I was a burlesque dancer. Because my family’s European, for me it wasn’t that weird and I didn’t do anything super seedy — although my dad didn’t think so.”

Blac Chyna

Blac Chyna was a stripper at Miami’s famous King of Diamonds gentlemen’s club and said during a Facebook Live in August 2016 that if she hadn’t gotten famous, she’d probably still be a stripper.

Tila Tequila

Tila Tequila is everyone’s favorite tiny Asian bisexual. No one is sure exactly why she is famous (besides her sex tape – maybe that’s all it takes), but in an interview with King Mag, she describes her brief stint as a stripper: “When I was 18 and still in high school, I was a stripper for a while, because I was trying to save up money to move to Hollywood to become this bisexual Hollywood starlet that I am today.” Well, congratulations Tila. You did it!
