South African Female Celebrities Who Sadly Took Their Own Life
Losing a loved one to suicide is probably one of the most emotionally devastating experiences a person can go through. And when a celebrity commits suicide, then it is not just their family but the entire world that is left shocked and betrayed. On the surface it might seem like celebrities have perfect lives, courted by fame, wealth, and the adoration of fans.
However, like every other human being, famous people too, experience pains and disappointments albeit away from the public eye. The news of a celebrity suicide catches us unawares and shocks us to the core. Below are top South African female celebrities who sadly took their life:
Anele Tembe
Yet another suicide attempt has recently shaken Mzansi, and it must not go unmentioned. The love story between AKA and Anele Tembe had people of Mzansi believing in true love for quite some time.
And when they got engaged, everyone in Mzansi knew they were in for a treat: the most stunning wedding in history. But optimism began to wane when news spread that the couple was having trouble.
And thus, for Mzansi to hear that Nellie had jumped from their hotel room when they were on vacation together, no amount of preparation could have ever prepared them for such horrific news. The group naturally focused their blame on AKA, who was also going through a bad patch.
Supa Mega still occasionally uses his social media accounts to express his sadness about losing the love of his life. We can only pray for his recovery and the return of love in his life.
These anecdotes just got to prove that our superstars are not any different from us. They are human and are periodically dragged down by the burdens of this life that can be a bit too much to take. And while they chose to end it all, we will continue to remember them and congratulate them for their amazing works.
Nichume Siwundla
Just a month after her 27th birthday, the rising phenomenon and House vocalist committed suicide. It was a shock to her family because they had always regarded her as a dependable person. In addition to his success with Bhutiza and Daydreaming, Nichume also enjoyed success with the song Far Away.
Khensani Maseko
The 23-year-old student and activist from Rhodes University took her own life following reports that she had been raped by her lover. Khensani, who had previously sought help, committed suicide in 2018. Nkoli-Fassie, a non-profit agency that works with various issues, including sexual assault, was the first person she contacted.
