We are in need of a Driver with exceptional driving skills. Well presented, punctual, prepared to work shifts and overtime. The incumbent must have a minimum of 3 years driving exprerience with a good track record. Attention to detail.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum grade 12
Have a valid code 14 driver’s license and valid PDP.
Minimum of 3 years previous driving experience with a horse and trailer
Having knowledge of specialised steel is recommended.
The incumbent must be self-driven and be able to work under pressure.
Must be fluent in English (read, speak, and write) and be able to communicate effectively with any given group.
Duties and Responsibilities
Loading, transporting, and delivering items to clients or businesses in a safe, timely manner. Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
Assisting with loading and unloading items from vehicles.
Providing excellent customer service, answering questions, and handling complaints from clients. Maintain a positive attitude with customers.
Adhering to assigned routes and following time schedules.
Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record.
Ensuring trips sheets, delivery notes and any other documentation is signed and returned by customer Operating equipment and machinery, (Trucks, overhead cranes and forklifts)
Refuel and clean vehicle.
Report road incidents to the Transport Controller
Inspect trucks and complete a daily checklist. Record and report issues to Transport Controller.
Follow accident procedures.
Report mechanical problems to Transport Controller.
Escalating and communicating all delays to Transport Controllers.
Ensuring that vehicles and company assets are treated and managed carefully and to prevent damage.
Practicing and maintaining effective good driving behaviour to prevent damage or excessive cost to company and its assets.
Ensure that trucks and axels are not overloaded. Participate in debrief meetings with Transport Controllers
Conduct Daily Safety Task Inspections.
